Our History
SilverStone was founded in 1977 by John Ling. He has overseen many restorations of some of the rarest Ferraris, Maseratis and Lamborghinis in the world, along with other unique Italian cars such as the prototype Iso Grifo A3L, Bizzarrinis and Facel Vegas. He is also a respected car judge and participates at some of the most well-known events in North America, including Pebble Beach, Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance and Chief Judge Emeritus of The Milwaukee Concours d’Elegance. John remains active at SilverStone as historian and researcher on many projects.
After 20 years in business, Mr. Ling turned the enterprise over to several key employees and in 1999; Matt Backhaus assumed his current leadership role. He has expanded the scope of SilverStone’s offerings to include virtually all American and European marques. Matt has invested in the tools required to get the job done. More importantly, he has invested in the personnel that will make your automotive dreams come true.
